What Types of Mirror Finishes Are Available?

The most popular mirror metal finishes include the #7 pre-buff or “dull mirror” finish and the industry standard #8 mirror finish. Additional varieties such as the super mirror finish or bright annealed finish are also commonly found in some industries and use cases. You can learn more about the types of mirror metal finish options we provide below.

#7 Mirror Finish

A “pre-buff” or “dull mirror” finish, #7 mirror finish creates a highly reflective surface, though not quite as reflective as #8. This is because the surface is finely ground, but grit lines are not removed through a final buffing process.

#8 Mirror Finish

#8 is the industry standard when it comes to a true mirrored finish. This extremely reflective appearance is created through several stages of directional buffing, as well as a final buff using a rouge compound. This finish is popular for many decorative pieces, such as those seen in the casino industry.

What Are Mirror Finish Metal Products Used For?

Mirror finishes are common in industries and projects where aesthetic appeal is paramount. This includes architecture and design projects, particularly hotels, casinos, and other use cases where the artistic vision aims to create a stunning and modern first impression. Architectural projects commonly require high volumes of mirror finish sheet and plate metal, including stainless steel, bronze, brass, and aluminum.

Mirror finish metal products are also frequently used in artwork and sculptures, as well as for other ornamental purposes.
